CHRISTIAN DISTINCTIVENESS

Together We are Walking in the Light with Jesus

We welcome our children, staff and families into our caring, happy and safe Church of England flourishing school community. We believe it is important to develop Christian values by which to live well together and help to
develop a moral and spiritual awareness.

“I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

John 8 v12

Walking in the Light

Our Values

At Kingsland C.E Academy, we all embody the same ethos and core values which we think are key elements that build us into kind, considerate, lifelong learners. We have 8 unique values that are integrated into our learning. Our pupils can earn cards whenever they show those values.

Our 8 values are:
FLOURISHING, RESPECT, GENEROSITY, PEACE, SPIRITUALITY, PRAYER, KINDNESS & FORGIVENESS

AGENTS of CHANGE

As a church school, an important aspect of our ethos is thinking of others, particularly those less able or less fortunate than ourselves.

We have a good relationship with many different charities and over the years we have raised considerable amounts of money to help and support children all over the world.

We place a strong emphasis on nurturing our pupils to become Agents of Change, not only within Kingsland C.E. Academy but also our local community and on a global scale.
Agents of Change are people who passionately champion a cause that is meaningful and special to them. We teach our pupils the importance of helping others, regardless of their background, origin, or the challenges they may face in their own lives.

OUR CHAPLAIN

Rev Rob is our children’s and community Chaplain. He works with children and their families to ensure that they are happy in school and also liaises with the clergy in our parish, as together they support our school and community.

Rob is available to support all children in school especially when they are sad or upset at those difficult times in a child’s life. He leads our Worship Team and together they plan and lead worship for the rest of the school community. They lead worship each half term and for special Christian services at Christmas and Easter. Our Worship Team are also supported to evaluate the worship led at school and throughout the year they are invited to contribute to services at St. Mary’s Church.

Rob also has a Chaplain’s Team of children that he works with and they are available to support everyone as we all ‘Walk in the Light with Jesus’ following our Kingsland values.

Rob is a Growing Faith Strategic Leader who help to put children, young people and families instinctively at the heart of all the mission and ministry of the Church by changing the culture of the Church of England.

chaplaincy across the trust

We regularly meet together as church schools

We also have led training days in which we share how our Chaplains Team and Worship Team work and offer advice and support to other schools in our Trust.

During out first Peer Chaplains event, we wrote and recorded a SBMAT Trust Prayer. You can listen to it on our Trust’s Website by clicking below.

SBMAT TRUST PRAYER

COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

A daily act of worship in schools that aims to develop our pupils’ spiritual, moral, and cultural awareness. Our worship is lead by Rev. Rob, our school teachers and sometimes some of our friends from the Lichfield Diocese. Parents are invited and welcomed to join us for celebration assemblies on a Friday and when their child’s class leads worship for the school.

KINGSLAND CHORUS

We are very proud of our choir at Kingsland C.E Academy!

Kingsland Chorus rehearse weekly, coming together as one large choir for performances. As well as rehearsing for their own performances and competitions, they are also active in the local community, regularly visiting local care homes to sing to the residents. They are also regularly invited to perform at St. Mary’s Church throughout the year.

Singing in the choir is not just about developing vocal skills. It’s about team work, where the children discover how it feels to be part of a successful group. All of the experiences that are offered come as a result of the children’s hard work. But most of all, the children have enormous fun!

OUR CHURCH

Faith. Hope. Love.

Kingsland is the Bucknall parish school and we regularly attend St. Mary’s Church at Harvest, Christmas, Easter and for leavers service. The Bucknall Team Ministry lead worship in school and support our Christian ethos.

Rev. Rob also regularly leads a midweek communion service at St. Mary’s where our pupils and the congregation meet to worship together. This is attended half-termly by Year 6 pupils.

St Bart’s Multi Academy Trust’s vision is to place children at the centre of everything that they do.

Working in collaboration, they strive to provide the highest quality of educational experience and outcomes for the young people in an inclusive environment. Through the enjoyment of learning, we live life together in all its fullness through PEACE. For the trust schools this means life in all its fullness is a life lived for God, serving others.
This vision in line with the Church of England’s mission that our education is deeply Christian at it’s heart, with Jesus’ promise of

‘Life in all its fullness’

The vision is for the common good of the whole community within each of the flourishing family of church schools.
Kingsland C.E. Academy, through its own theologically rooted vision encompasses the trust vision.

‘Together we are walking in the light with Jesus’

Kingsland’s vision is clear as a way of living and flourishing together. Kingsland serves an area of very high deprivation, and the vision supports everyone to walk together on our daily journey. It also encourages our whole school community to shine their light and have aspirations for the future.
The structures for the trust are as a family of schools, supporting and working together to ensure that all enjoy life in its fullness. The governance structures allow for schools to be siblings and recognises the individuality of each in our family.
Kingsland is used to support other schools and to share expertise, just as in the past Kingsland has benefitted greatly from support from the family of SBMAT.
