WELCOME TO KINGSLAND C.E. ACADEMY

Together We are Walking in the Light with Jesus

Our children are offered an exciting, fun and creative curriculum.

As a Church of England Academy our Christian ethos is at the heart of everything we do. We believe in the importance of developing children’s social skills and confidence leading to informed decision making.

Hello

Here at Kingsland C.E. Academy we believe in the importance of developing children’s social skills and confidence leading to informed decision making.

Mrs. Goddard – Principal

We are proud that we have been featured on the SIAMS Case Studies website for showcasing examples of exemplary or innovative practice that support the development of other Church schools in our area.

About Our IQM Inclusive School Award…

The IQM Inclusive School Award celebrates schools that truly put inclusion at the heart of everything they do. It recognises places where every pupil—regardless of background, needs, or abilities—is supported to learn, grow, and feel they belong. The award looks at how a school’s policies, teaching approaches, and overall culture work together to promote equality, strengthen SEND provision, and create learning environments where all children can thrive. Open to both mainstream and special schools, the award highlights a commitment to going beyond requirements to build a genuinely inclusive community, both locally and increasingly around the world.

OUR VISION, VALUES & ETHOS

We value our children, staff and families and welcome them into our caring, happy and safe Church of England school community.

“I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” – Jesus

John 8 v12

The Christian ethos permeates the school. Pupils feel safe and cared for. They have warm and trusting relationships with adults in the school. Pupils hold the chaplain in high regard and can share any concerns and worries with him.

Self-Evaluation

A SIAMS inspection focuses on the impact of the Christian vision on pupils and adults. This involves looking at the school’s Christian vision, the provision the school makes because of this vision and how effective this provision is in enabling all pupils to flourish. SIAMS REPORT 2024

The inspection findings indicate that Kingsland Church of England Academy is living up to its foundation as a Church School.

Pupils and staff are cherished and encouraged to ‘let their light shine’. The treasured key values of prayer, forgiveness, kindness, generosity, peace and respect permeate each and every aspect of the school’s work. They provide inspiration. Pupils and staff alike flourish because of the way in which the school lives out its biblically rooted vision and values.

Meet Our Trust

The St. Bart’s Multi-Academy Trust is committed to improving the life chances of all children, wherever they may be.

This moral obligation, our mission, does not end at the school gates, within our own Local Authorities, or even within our own country. Where St. Bart’s Academies have the capacity to make a difference, they are morally bound to do so.

BTSA SCHOOL DIRECT

Thinking about becoming a primary school teacher?

The School Direct teacher training route is led by BTSA, working in partnership with local schools and The University of Derby. You can be fully trained in just one year. To find out more about the exciting School Direct programme, click the link below.

Ignite the creativity in every child

1:1 iPads at Kingsland

Every child is born full of creativity and nurturing it is one of the most important things educators can do. In September 2019 we launched our 1:1 iPad scheme so that every child from Y1 to Y6 has an iPad which they can use at school and at home.

Love to read

Helping our children to become passionate readers.

Our role is to instil and nurture a love of reading for all our pupils. We have an extensive and exciting range of books for the children to read and a well stocked school library.

Phonics Made Simple

Find out why children love using Monster Phonics.

We use a phonics programme called ‘Monster Phonics’, a method of learning centred around letter sounds and phonics, blending them together to read and write words.

Admissions

We’re committed to developing an inclusive school that reflects the diversity of the local community.

There are 60 pupils in each year group. Parents wishing to apply for a place for their child should call us on 01782 229138 or online at the Stoke-on-Trent Council Admissions webpage. Admission is not dependent on being a member of a particular faith community. We follow Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s admission policy.

Deferred entry to reception class

Parents may request that their child be admitted to reception class on a part-time basis, or that their child be admitted to the Academy later in the same academic year until the child reaches compulsory school age (i.e. beginning of the term after the child’s fifth birthday). The effect is that the place will be held for the child in reception and is not available to be offered to any other child within the same academic year in which it has been offered. Before deciding whether to defer their child’s entry to the Academy, parents should visit their preferred setting to clarify how they cater for the youngest children in Reception and how the needs of these children are met as they move up through the Academy.

Admission outside of the normal age group

Parents may seek to apply for their child’s admission to the Academy outside of their normal age group, for example if the child is exceptionally gifted and talented or has experienced problems such as ill health. In addition, the parents of summer born children may choose not to send their child to school until the September following their fifth birthday and may request that they are admitted outside of their normal age group to reception rather than year 1.
These parents will need to make an application alongside children applying at the normal age which should explain why it is in the child’s best interest to be admitted outside of their normal age which may include information such as professional evidence as to why this is the case and why an exception should be made in the case of the child. A decision as to whether this is an appropriate course of action will be made by the Local authority and / or Academy taking into account the circumstances of the case and views of the Principal. Parents do not have the right to insist that their child is admitted to a particular year group.

school games gold

We are proud to have achieved the Gold award!

The School Games Mark is a government led award launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.
